Product description

Uda ram is a breed of African long-legged sheep common in Chad, Niger, northern Cameroon, and northern Nigeria. There are several varieties of Uda sheep. Typically the front half of Uda ram is brown or black and the back half is white. It is one of the most consumed Salah rams in Nigeria. It is a meat breed with distinctive markings. The front half of the body is black or brown and the back half is white. The rams of the Uda are horned and the ewes are usually polled. There are three major classes of Nigeria’s indigenous sheep breeds. They are classified according to their sizes. Uda is a large, long-legged, and long-tailed breed with an average adult weight of 45-100kg with large horns prominent in the Ram. Uda ram is a good Salah Ram.

Your primary goal is to reduce stress through good management, nutrition and proper health care.

  • Gently handle your sheep, refrain from yelling, yanking legs and horns and pulling wool.
  • Provide adequate animal space based on its size, breed and other recommendations.
  • Manage space facilities with sanitation and disease prevention in mind.
  • Clean out the ram space regularly.
  • Sheep require water and energy (carbohydrates and fats) for optimal growth and production. Provide fresh water 24/7.
  • Provide adequate roughage (hay, silage or pasture).
  • Keep slaughter ram off feed for 24 hours before slaughter.
  • Provide water to ram before slaughter.

Our stock is disease and stress-free. This top health condition results from the good husbandry practices the animals were raised with. They are mature and very meaty for celebrations like Ileya. Varying in sizes to meet your needs and budget, our matured rams are available at the following prices with the corresponding weight in Kg:
